The item “New Building Project” is on the agenda for the next Great Bend school board meeting. The USD 428 board of education meeting is set for 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, at the District Education Center, 201 South Patton Road.
The board will also award the bids for purchasing two vehicles and for a sound system at Great Bend High School, and there will be an executive session for discussion of personnel.
GBHS ACT/Career Coordinator Lacy Wolters will talk about ACT test scores and the ACT program in place at the high school.
The mentoring program for new teachers is on the agenda as an information/action item. The district has 14 new teachers, each with a mentor, and 12 second-year teachers who are also mentored. Teachers who are new to the district but have prior teaching experience are provided ambassadors to help adjust to the new setting. There are 21 teachers who have ambassadors; both mentors and ambassadors are compensated for their time.
