A crew does dirt work at the site of the new Advancing Barton County Childcare Center at Farmers Plaza on the corner of 10th Street and K-96 Thursday afternoon. This is the culmination of a project two years in the making brought about by Great Bend Economic Development Inc. through its subgroup Advancing Barton County Childcare. Ground was broken on July 20 and the plans are to have the construction of the $1.9 million, 6,800 square-foot facility done by next spring.
