New GriefShare program starts Sunday

Community members who have experienced the death of a family member or friend are invited to attend the GriefShare program held at Foundry Methodist Church, 5401 Broadway, Great Bend.  Meetings are at 3 p.m. on Sundays, beginning Jan. 20.
This nondenominational program features Christ-centered, biblical teaching that focuses on grief topics associated with the death of a loved one. The DVD seminar features nationally respected grief experts and real-life stories of people, followed by a small group discussion about what was seen on the DVD.
Many grieving people find they are only beginning the work of healing when friends or family have returned to their daily life routines. Past participants have related how helpful the information and follow-up discussions were to them.
Whether their bereavement experience is recent or happened some time ago, participants will find encouragement, comfort and help in grieving the death of a spouse, child, parent, sibling, other family member or friend. No matter what the cause of the loved one’s death, this is an opportunity to be around people who understand. Participants will learn how to recognize the symptoms of being stuck in grief and that they do not need to live in bondage as a slave to certain emotions. They will learn valuable information about facing their new normal in life and renewing their hope for the future.
The sessions in this 13-week cycle of GriefShare are “self-contained,” so they do not have to be attended in sequence.
There is no charge to attend the sessions.  Workbooks, which will assist with note-taking, journaling and grief study, are $15. To register or get more information, contact the church by calling 620-793-3327 or e-mail care@foundrymethodist.org.  A schedule of sessions is available at www.foundrymethodist.org.
