Employee contributions to Clara Barton Hospital Foundation’s annual membership drive reached an all-time high this week with 100 employees contributing to the 2011-12 annual membership campaign.
Clara Barton Hospital Foundation kicked-off its annual membership drive the first week in October with an employee giving campaign for Hospital and Clinic staff before reaching out to donors and friends in the community. This year’s employee participation exceeded participation over the year prior. Currently, 100 employees are giving a donation to the campaign.
This is 71 percent participation accounting for over $9,000 in employee contributions. "Employee giving of this magnitude speaks volumes to the spirit of compassion and commitment that our employees have for Clara Barton and the patients that we serve," said Michelle Moshier, foundation executive director. The 2011-2012 membership drive goal is $30,000 to purchase a pulmonary function testing unit.
Funds raised through the foundation’s annual membership drive support capital improvement for the hospital. Last year membership contributions from employees, businesses and donors funded a plasma vaporization electrode button. Over the years, Clara Barton Foundation’s membership contributions have supported projects to purchase a seated bathing system, a medication storage cabinet, over-the-bed tables and night stands, twenty-five patient rocker/recliner chairs which completed the refurnishing of the patient rooms, two recovery room monitors, a blood gas analyzer, an immuno assay chemistry analyzer, a "glove-box" for the Pharmacy Department, bone densitometer (measures bone density), medication dispensing machines and a cautery instrument for surgical services.
"Unlike most rural hospitals, Clara Barton Hospital does not receive county or municipal tax dollars. This is why employee and community philanthropy is so important," said Moshier.

Established in 1990 and governed by a local volunteer board of directors, Clara Barton Hospital Foundation is a not-for-profit organization with its mission to secure and expend financial aid to Clara Barton Hospital.
