HOISINGTON — Lights! Camera! Auction! The Clara Barton Hospital Foundation will holds its annual benefit on June 15.
The Golf Tournament will be held that Friday, at Lake Barton Golf Course with tee time beginning at 8 a.m. Organize a four person team and participate in a fun-filled golf scramble. The cost to enter the tournament is $90 per player, or $360 per team. Deadline to register for the golf benefit is June 11. Space is limited to 30 teams.
“We appreciate all of the support our dedicated sponsors provide, year after year. They make this tournament a success,” said Michelle Moshier, executive director.
With the touch of button, Clara Barton Hospital nurses can accurately weigh an immobile patient ensuring a precise weight for use in medication calculation and delivery with the GoBed II. Proceeds from this year’s benefit golf tournament, dinner and auction will purchase six GoBed II hospital beds. The beds have many features including the low height position allowing for safe patient entry and exit. The beds have “alerts” which help prevent patient falls by tracking the patient’s center of gravity.
“The Foundation’s fundraiser typically raises $38,000 each year for a designated project at Clara Barton Hospital. The Foundation purchased seven hospital beds in 2010. Another successful benefit this year will allow for several additional new beds. Not only does the new technology make it easier for nursing staff to care for very sick patients, the beds are also safer for employees. Back strains are the leading occupational injury among health care workers. In severe cases, a back injury can be career ending,” said Moshier.
The benefit dinner and auction will be held at the Knights of Columbus in Hoisington with doors open at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. The live auction, courtesy of Schremmer Realty Auction and Appraisers, will start around 8 p.m. Tickets for the evening activities may be purchased for $17.50 from the Foundation or at the reception area of the hospital.
The dinner and auction is open to the public and only 200 tickets will be sold. Nex-tech and Nex-Tech Wireless are once again sponsoring this year’s dinner. The dinner is being catered by Wheatland Café and Catering and will be fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, home-made bread, dessert and drink.
