There are new books available at the Ellinwood School/Community Library. They are:
"Escape" by Barbara Delinsky. Emily spends her days working in a cubicle as a lawyer often representing the wrong side, tied to life through her phone and computer. But acting on impulse, Emily leaves work early one day, packs a bag and takes off to find a place in New Hampshire, the site where things started going wrong in her life. To right her life, she knows that she must start here.
"The Best of Me" by Nicholas sparks. An unlikely couple falls deeply in love in their senior year of high school, only to be torn apart, and set on wildly divergent paths. Now twenty-five years later, both of them are summoned back to their hometown, and reconnect. Forced to confront painful memories, the two former lovers will discover truths, and consider whether love can truly rewrite the past.
"Heat Wave" by Nancy Thayer. After her husband’s sudden death, Carley Winsted is startled to discovery that her family finances are in dire straits. Rather than be taken in by well meaning in-laws, Carley decides to transform her expensive expansive house into a bed and breakfast. Soon during a late-summer heat wave, she finds her entire life transforming as well.
"Distant Shores" by Kristin Hannah. Elizabeth and her husband have successfully raised a family, and although they seem to have done everything right, they have drifted quietly apart. Now with an empty nest, she follows her husband across the country, as he takes a new and exciting job. But in the aftermath of a shocking tragedy, she lets go of the woman she has become and decides to reach out for the woman she wants to be.
"Then Came You" by Jennifer Weiner. Three women, tied together by the attempts of one of them to have a baby, have all their life plans through into disarray when a grown daughter intervenes to try and put a stop to the pregnancy. This is an unforgettable, timely tale that interweaves themes of class and entitlement, surrogacy, the rights of a parent and the measure of motherhood.
"Flash and Bones" by Kathy Reichs. Temperance Brennan is an investigative forensic anthropologist who is looking into a suspicious death connected with NASCAR and a group of right wing extremists. Could the body found in a barrel of asphalt belong to a long missing young woman or her boyfriend? When other people now turn up missing, a sinister explanation starts to emerge.
