ELLINWOOD -- This week Crime Stoppers of Barton County turns its attention to Ellinwood. During June, the golf course was vandalized and a utility trailer was stolen in town. Great Bend Police Chief Dean Akings, Crime Stoppers spokesman, asks anyone with information about any crime to call Crime Stoppers to leave an anonymous tip.
Between 9 p.m. on June 24 and 7:15 a.m. on the 25th, Grove Park at 501 West Santa Fe in Ellinwood was damaged. “Someone drove a four-wheeler over the golf course, damaging the grounds at the sixth hole,” Akings said. “A golf course flag was also stolen. Damage and loss was $4,050.”
A 6-by-12-foot utility trailer valued at $1,000 was stolen from behind a residence at 206 West Sixth St. in Ellinwood, on or around June 13. “It is white in color, has a tilt bed and walking tandem axles,” Akings said. “It has a wooden floor, 14-inch tires and wheels and angle iron rails, and takes a 2-inch ball to haul it.”
To contact Crime Stoppers, call  620-792-1300 or the toll-free number, 888-305-1300. Tips that lead to an arrest or recovery of property may be subject to a monetary reward. “Remember,” Akings said, “we don’t want your name, just your information.”
