ELLINWOOD — The Ellinwood High School Forensics Team placed first in team sweepstakes in a 19-team meet held at Kiowa County High School in Greensburg on Feb. 19. The team earned first-place trophies two weekends in a row, having also placed first at Southeast of Saline in February.

Hannah Maddy led the team at Greensburg, placing first in Prose Interpretation and first in Duet Acting with partner Connor Birzer. Montara Johansen placed first in Original Oration and Birzer placed third in the same event. Johansen also placed third in Informative Speaking. Carli Newkirk placed fourth in Poetry Interpretation and fifth in Humorous Solo Acting. Hannah Billinger placed sixth in Poetry Interpretation.

The students are coached by Julie Ann Jacobs and Angela Petersen.
