ELLINWOOD — Members of the Ellinwood High School Forensics Team competed at the Smoky Valley High School Invitational on Jan. 29. Though EHS only entered a few students into the 20-team meet, each of Ellinwood’s speakers placed in the top six.

Sophomores Connor Birzer and Jenna Snell earned medals for third and fourth place, respectively, in Original Oration. Senior Montara Johansen placed first in Informative Speaking. Johansen was a state finalist in the same event last May.

Hannah Billinger and Carli Newkirk also competed in Humorous Solo Acting at the meet.

The team will travel to Sterling on Feb. 5. They are coached by Julie Ann Jacobs and assisted by Angela Peterson.
