TOPEKA — On Jan. 15, Representative Marshall Christmann and Chamber Administrator J. Basil Dannebohm, along with board members Lloyd Kurtz and Jacque Isern spent the day at the State House in Topeka visiting with key leadership about the needs and concerns of Chamber members.
“We’ve had a series of discussions with our members over the last couple months,” said Dannebohm. “We were able to identify several issues that were of key importance. Ensuring that we as a chamber express those concerns to the proper departments is an important part of our role in the community.”
During the day, the Ellinwood contingent met with members of the House and Senate, the Secretary of Transportation, the Secretary of State and the Deputy Secretary of Commerce.
“I was very pleased with the Ellinwood Chamber’s level of commitment and sensitivity to the needs of the community; these are not easy meetings,” said Christmann. “In my opinion the group hit home runs with their testimony on the important issues that impact the daily life of Ellinwood businesses.”
Secretary of State Kris Kobach presented Lloyd Kurtz with the state flag as a token of the Chamber’s appreciation for his service to the community.
“It was an honor not only to receive a flag that was flown over the Capitol but also to meet with lawmakers to discuss the needs of our community. I’m grateful to Representative Christmann and Basil for putting together such a great day,” said Kurtz.
That evening, the chamber representatives were the governor’s guests at the State of the State address.
