Flag retirement On a cool, crisp November evening, the American Legion in Ellinwood properly disposed of worn out American flags. They were burned last Sunday prior to the awarding of the purple heart to Milton Sittingdown from the Korean War. The proper disposal of a flag involves the inspection of each flag by Legion officers to make sure they are worn. Each flag is then destroyed in the flames. The Cub Scouts helped with this Veterans Day flag retirement service. At the end of the service, there was a prayer and a salute to all of the flags that were destroyed. - photo by KAREN LA PIERRE Latest Kudos for Dudek's koi paintings Catch monarchs at Quiviras Monarch Mania Sunflower Diversified pancake dinner sets new record Ellinwood Municipal Court Docket - June 14
