CLAFLIN — The Claflin Lions Club will be selling tickets for the Annual Seafood Buffet now through March 21. The menu for the evening will include all you can eat servings of fish, shrimp, clam chowder, salad, scalloped potatoes, vegetables, bread, coffee or tea.
The event will be held from 4:30-8:30 p.m. on March 21 at Claflin Catholic Church Parish Hall. Cost is $6 for children 12 and under; $12 for seniors 65 years and over; and $15 for all others.
The Lions Club will be accepting donations of old eyeglasses, hearing aids, bicycles and bicycle parts. The glasses and hearing aids are taken to a storing facility in Texas and eventually sent to developing countries for distribution. The bicycles and parts are taken to the Ellsworth Correctional Facility for the Bicycle Recycle Program.
Bring bikes and parts the night of the event. For help unloading, inquire at the ticket table.
Eyeglasses and hearing aids can be dropped off at the ticket table upon entering the building.
Proceeds from the event are used for Claflin and Barton County area events and activities such as the annual Claflin Easter Egg Hunt at the city park, Community Scholarships, eyeglasses for the needy, support for the Kansas Lions State Band participants from Central Plains High School, Barton Community College scholarships, donations for Leader Dogs for the blind, donations to Clara Barton Hospital, the Bicycle Recycle Program, Bicycle Safety Day and many other local events.
