HOISINGTON — Hoisington Activity Center’s Director Rae Ann Hayes is leaving her position sometime this summer to move to Goodland. Her husband’s family owns a farm there, and he intends to work it.
“I would definitely describe her in one word-outstanding,” said Lee Van Scyoc, chairman of the board of commissioners of HAC.
Hayes has been the director since November, 2008 and has maintained activities for all ages, including sports for the young and bus trips for those that are older, as well as all those in between.
Prior to working in Hoisington, she worked as an assistant at the recreation department in Lyons.
The director grew up in Holyrood and graduated from Quivira Heights High School. She has three kids, and effectively managed the center after the birth of her youngest child. He came to work with her, so didn’t  miss any of the first year milestones.
Hayes will miss most working with all of the different people and kids and getting to know people.
She has a degree in health and human performance from Fort Hays State University.
“I enjoy what I do,” said Hayes. She likes to see others enjoying their healthy activities, too.
RaeAnn hasn’t found a new job yet in Goodland.
The Hoisington Activity Center was built in 2002 and is owned by the Hoisington School District. The search has already begun for a new director.
“It ought to be a good job for somebody,” said Van Scyoc. “We wish RaeAnn well. We hate to loose her.”
