Hoisington forensics heads to state

HOISINGTON — Seven members of the Hoisington High School Forensics Team have qualified 18 entries for 3A State competition in Wichita on May 4.
Ashley Lockwood has qualified for the state championship in informative speaking, improvised duet acting, serious solo acting, prose, and serious duet acting.  She is limited to competition in two events, so she plans to do duet acting (with Jordin Greer) and informative speaking.
Olivia Lowry has qualified for the state championship in prose, improvised duet acting, serious solo acting, oration, and humorous solo acting.  She plans to compete in improvised duet acting (with Jacob Durrett) and humorous solo acting. Shannon Manka has qualified for State in improvised duet acting, poetry, humorous duet acting, extemporaneous speaking, and serious solo acting.  She plans to compete in humorous duet acting (with Durrett) and serious solo acting.
Durrett qualified for the state championship in prose, humorous duet acting, and improvised duet acting.  He plans to compete in humorous duet acting (with Manka) and improvised duet acting (with Lowry). Jordin Greer qualified for the state championship in serious duet acting (with Ashley Lockwood). Terance Croslin and Shae Bitter both qualified for the state festival in prose.  Shae also qualified in improvised duet acting (with Ashley Lockwood).
In recent action at Jetmore, Manka placed first in serious solo acting and third in duet acting with Durrett.  Durett also placed second in prose.  Larissa Donovan placed sixth in impromptu.
At Stafford, Greer and Lockwood placed second in duet acting, and Donovan placed sixth in serious solo acting.
At Lincoln, Manka placed third in serious solo acting and fifth in poetry.
At Regionals, hosted by Hoisington, Shae Bitter and Terance Croslin each received I (one) ratings in prose. Coach Marion Oborny said, “Our team has worked really hard and done very well.  I’m very proud of them.  They are talented, and a fun group to work with.”
