Team
The HMS Cardinal boys A team improved its season record to 7-2 with victories over Hays Kennedy 51-44 and a very good Central Kansas Christian Academy team from Great Bend by a score of 45-32. The victory over Hays avenged one of the Cardinals two early season losses. Jacob Warken led the Redbirds with 19 points followed by Steffan Dolechek with 9 and Chris Wright and Ryan Broeder each with 8. The Cards led throughout the game and held off an aggressive Irish press in the 4th quarter to finish with the win.
On Monday CKCA came to town and gave the Cards a stiff test. Cardinal scoring was led by Chris Wright who had his best outing of the year with 17 pts and 18 rebounds. Warnken contributed 13 points and Dolechek added 8 in the winning effort. According to Coach Joe Cotten,"the boys are playing very well at this time. Our perimeter shooting is coming around and we are finishing our shots much better in the paint than we did earlier in the year. With 3 games remaining before our league tournament we should have an excellent chance to be the # 1 seed going in."
Next action for the HMS boys are home games with Dodge City Sacred Heart on Thursday December 15 at HMS beginning at 4:30 and then Monday Dec 19 vs Ellinwood at the Hoisington Activity Center with a 4:30 start.
