HOISINGTON — Hoisington Middle School has recently been notified that it is one of the Kansas Association of Middle School Administrators Exemplary Schools. Thirteen middle schools were chosen for Exemplary status by the association.

The criteria for selection was evidence of continual improvement and evidence of new programs added.

"I’m very proud of our middle school because it shows a lot of hard work by our staff and students and leadership from Principal Pat Reinhardt," said Bill Lowry, USD 431 superintendent.

Also named to the KAMSA Exemplary Middle Schools were Augusta Middle School, Dodge City Middle School, Fort Riley Middle School, Fredonia Middle School, Hillsboro Middle School, Meade Junior High School, Monticello Trails Middle School-DeSoto, Royster Middle School-Chanute, Sabetha Middle School, Southwest Junior High School-Lawrence, Valley Center Middle School and Wamego Middle School.

Pioneer Trail Middle School of Olathe was honored as the Middle School of the year. In addition, there were five finalists for that honor as well.

Pat Reinhardt is the principal of HMS. She will receive a plaque at the spring conference lunch on May 9 at Washburn Universiy.

The KAMSA Middle School Award is a new program this year. The selection committee was made up of three retired middle school administrators and former KAMSA presidents.
