John Carmon Ellison of Allen, Texas, 57, passed away on May 30, 2013. He was born on Sept. 3, 1955, in Fort Stewart, Ga., the son of John and Dee Ellison. On Nov. 28, 1995, John married Phyllis Taylor in Great Bend. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. John was also very proud of his police work; he started the SWAT program in Great Bend. John loved barbecue and cooking out, but most of all, he loved his family. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Ellison of Allen, Texas; children, Joel Ellison and wife Debbie of Silverthorne, Colo., Chris Ellison of Great Bend, Kevin Doll and Jennifer Connor of St. Paul, Minn., Nicole Doll of Manhattan, N. Y.; grandchildren, Lila and Logan Ellison of Silverthorne, Colo.; sister, Sue Morgan and husband Rick of Athens, Tenn. and Connie Ellison of Columbia, S.C.; many other loving family members and friends.
John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Dee Ellison.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., on Thursday, June 6, at Leavenworth National Cemetery, in Leavenworth.
