K-14 construction project to begin May 27 to south
Placeholder Image

Beginning Tuesday, May 27, K-14 starting at the K-14/K-156 junction, south of the city of Ellsworth, south to the K-14/K-4 junction will be under construction.
Plans call for the highway to receive a 2-inch mill followed by patching as warranted and a 2-foot asphalt overlay. This section of K-14 will also be widened 4 to 5 feet as needed.
For the duration of the project, this section of K-14 will be closed to thru traffic. Thru traffic should follow the signs and K-156 and K-4 to detour around the project.
Local traffic such as homeowners will continue to have access to their homes via side roads and single lane traffic on K-14. Side roads intersecting with K-14 will be closed only during construction within the intersection. For local traffic, where construction is underway, K-14 will be reduced to one lane and will be carried thru the work area by flaggers and pilot car. Plans call for construction to be completed on or about Aug. 8, weather permitting.
The purpose of this project is to extend the life of the highway while improving the ride experienced by travelers.
This project is funded through T-WORKS. For more information concerning the T-works program and specific projects visit the T-works web site at www.ksdot.org/ tworks.
