K-State Singers to hold program at Ellinwood

ELLINWOOD — On April 27, the K-State Singers, the sing and dance choreography team, will perform at 7 p.m. at Ellinwood High School.

Brett Lyman, the son of Darci and Jim Lyman of Ellinwood, will perform with the group. He is a freshmen at KSU, majoring in pre-med.

Brett graduated from EHS in 2010, and was involved in the Mystic Blues for four years. He was in musicals for three years and has had piano lessons, but never studied dance or voice.

"He loves it," said his mother Darci. "The group practices 10 hours per week."

The troupe travels around primarily the state as singing ambassadors, although they have traveled further. Members are not compensated, nor do they receive a scholarship. It is a class.

The K-State Singers holds auditions in the fall semester of each school year. Auditions consist of a performing two 30 second sections of a solo, one up-tempo and one ballad, in addition to a dance audition.
