The Kansas Department of Transportation will have a survey team surveying US-56/K-96 through the city of Ellinwood starting the week of July 5, to plan for possible future roadway improvements. The survey work is expected to be complete in about four months on this 1.65 mile area. KDOT asks drivers to be alert to the presence of the survey crew and drive cautiously.

Survey activities will include the use of survey instruments on the ground to determine the location of existing features within the survey corridor. When it becomes necessary for crew members to enter private property, they will contact the landowner or tenant.

Tim Stefek, L.S., with the consulting firm of Kirkham Michael & Associates, will be in charge of the survey for KDOT.

Persons with questions about the road work or other KDOT projects can call South Central Kansas Public Affairs Manager, Martin

Miller at 620-663-3361 or 1-877-550-5368 (toll free).
