HOISINGTON —Kindscher’s Mule Barn, to be located in the old Hoisington Duckwall’s building, should be open March 1, 2012. It will offer hardware, and pet, agriculture and ranch items.
The plans are to have two full-time and three part-time employees, said Brian Kindscher, owner. He owns the same kind of store in Concordia, which will remain open.
He had driven through the area, and "it looked like a good opportunity," said Kindscher. "I knew Duckwall’s and the hardware store were closing. Hoisington is a pretty good sized town."
Kindscher and his wife Kim are planning no big changes in the current Duckwall’s building. There will be one change — a hole will be cut in the wall of the Duckwall’s building, allowing access to the building next door to allow for more space for merchandise.
He plans to travel back and forth between Concordia and Hoisington for the time being. Kindscher and his wife have four children. Kim is a teacher.
Kinscher grew up on a farm, and so is familiar with farms. He managed a Country General in Superior, Neb., before deciding to open his own business.
They plan to begin moving in merchandise on Nov. 1.
