Sotelo to continue total joint replacements, begin fracture repair and management initiative
Clara Barton Hospital welcomes Dr. Abelardo Sotelo, MD to its team of medical care providers. Dr. Sotelo is a board certified Orthopaedic Surgeon and specializes in total joint replacements. He is now providing fracture repair and management service at Clara Barton.
“I am pleased to be at Clara Barton,” said Dr. Sotelo. “The hospital and the community have been welcoming. I look forward to continuing to provide service to this area and being able to offer new services. It is very exciting. The fracture repair and management service that we are offering is very important to the surrounding communities.”
Dr. Sotelo will continue to provide a range of orthopedic services, to include total hip and knee replacement, open rotator cuff repair, carpal tunnel release, shoulder decompression, and tendon and ligament repair.
“Clara Barton Hospital is excited about Dr. Sotelo’s recent employment transition and relocation of orthopedic practice from St. Rose to Clara Barton,” said Curt Colson, CEO at Clara Barton Hospital.  “The orthopedic arrangement between St. Rose and Clara Barton has worked well for both facilities and our patients, and we look forward to the expansion of Dr. Sotelo’s practice at Clara Barton.”
“Leanne Irsik, administrator at St. Rose, and I began visiting on how best to ensure quality orthopedic service options remained available in and around Barton County,” states Colson. “Ultimately, those conversations led us to the decision that patient’s orthopedic care needs would be best served by consolidating Dr. Sotelo’s practice under one healthcare organization: Clara Barton Hospital.”
Dr. Sotelo, while not new to Clara Barton, was previously located at St. Rose Ambulatory and Surgery Center, in Great Bend, and preformed orthopedic knee and hip replacements on an inpatient basis at Clara Barton.  Now he will provide inpatient and outpatient surgeries and care at Clara Barton and will hold a monthly clinic at St. Rose. The decision to move to Clara Barton was made in the best interest of patients.
