HOISINGTON — Superior Essex of Hoisington announces the latest recipient of the STAR Employee Recognition Award.  Lee Grandclair, Datacom jacketing operator, was named the 4th Quarter 2012 STAR Employee and will be treated to a dinner in his honor, a customized gift pack, a plaque, and STAR Employee parking privileges.
The Superior Essex STAR Recognition Award Program is designed to quarterly recognize STAR employees (Superior Teamwork Attitude and Results) for their outstanding teamwork, service, attitude, performance, and commitment to achieving the plant’s goals. One award is given quarterly to an outstanding employee, and the selection is based on peer nominations.
Grandclair has worked at Superior Essex since August 1988. He consistently demonstrates all of the qualities expected of a ‘STAR’ employee such as high work quality, work ethic, safe work practices, initiative, attitude, teamwork, volunteering, mentoring skills, patience, and dependability.
His peer nomination read, “Grandclair is always glad to help out and fix production reporting issues or stop tags. He also is on most committees including Safety Committee and Employee Advisory Group. Grandclair volunteers for extra work, such as learning the coax line. He can also run bulk lines, has served as a group leader, and helps with labels, UL labels, and anything else needed. Grandclair is a dependable employee that works hard, volunteers for extra duties, works well with others, is always in a good mood, and tries to help out whenever he can.”
Grandclair was surprised about receiving the award.  He appreciated the recognition and the opportunities that have been given to him.
Mike Klepper, plant manager, said, “Grandclair is a great asset for the company and someone who demonstrates the type of work ethic and positive attitude for others to follow. He is very involved with all committees and events plus volunteers to help at each of the company sponsored family gatherings. As a long term employee with over 20+ years of experience he still strives to improve his knowledge in the manufacturing field while providing the day to day assistance to his co-workers. With these fine qualities he is an outstanding choice for this quarter’s STAR employee award.”
