Swimming for Kans for Kids

Future Barton County kids receiving a diagnosis of cancer will benefit from funds raised by Dr. Dave McMillon, Hoisington veterinarian. Dr. Dave dubbed his event, “Drown Dr. Dave”, inviting others to pledge their support to Kans for Kids Fighting Cancer Foundation as he swam laps at Club 1 Fitness recently in Great Bend.
With Lon Palmer as the official ‘lap counter’, McMillon successfully swam 72 laps (approximately 2.3 miles).  When asked about the inspiration behind his generous act, he said, “When you’re swimming like that you keep your eyes on the black line in the bottom of the pool. When I see that black line I see the face of one of those little bald kids and just keep swimming for them.”
This was the second time that Dr. Dave has donated his athletic abilities and swum laps for Kans for Kids. This years efforts raised $700 for the organization.
“We are so grateful to Dr. Dave for his generosity and support of Kans for Kids,” said a representative of the organization.
