Time to file for council positions

BARTON COUNTY — It is already time to begin thinking about city council elections in Ellinwood and Hoisington on April 3. Claflin does not have any open council positions for the upcoming elections, according to the city.

Hoisington

Anyone wishing to file for city council in Hoisington may do so now, according to the Hoisington City Clerk. Forms are now available at the Hoisington City office during regular office hours.

The requirements are that you must be a registered voter in the ward in which you live.

Registration closes Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012 at noon.

Positions open are: Ward One, Mandy Urban; Ward Two, Jim Sekavec; Ward Three, Karen VanBrimmer; and Ward Four, Brian Wilborn.

Two individuals have filed for the election. They are: Ward Three, incumbent Karen VanBrimmer; and Ward Four, Chris Price.

Ellinwood

Anyone wishing to file for the city council in Ellinwood may do so now at the Ellinwood City Office or with the county election officer at the Barton County Courthouse. The deadline for filing is noon on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012. Council positions expiring are Kirk Clawson, Branden Rapp and Rick Wilson.
