ELLINWOOD — Life-size Halloween with spine tingling visuals, casts its spell when passing by the John and Erica Perron residence at 415 Cliston Drive (frontage off 7th) in Ellinwood. Each year the displays grow with four or five new additions just this year.

"We usually begin on the new ideas three months ahead of time, and then we begin to assemble a month in advance the rest of the displays," John said.

From gunny sacks to pvc pipe and chicken wire, the Halloween creativity evolves with 95 percent of all you see handmade. One of the newest was a hair-raising not so happy fellow sitting in the electric chair. Another addition to the ‘monster family’, and just as creepy, was the grave digger the Perrons named "Grravy". Grravy is a life sized man with glowing eyes and a shovel in his hand standing over a fresh grave.

John went on by describing Sam. "Sam is new this year. He was the pumpkin man at the end of the driveway with the ‘Trick or Treat’ sign. He is hand sewn and put together with gunnysack and chicken wire."

With about 60 ‘trick or treaters’ and entire families taking pictures in the Perron’s yard with their favorite spook, it was a busy block on Halloween night.

"I was just as excited as the trick or treaters. Compared to last year, there were a lot of homemade costumes, and we had a lot of fun." John said.
