USD 431 band students receive honors

HOISINGTON — On Feb.18 Hoisington High School student Hannah Wilborn traveled to Tabor College to perform at the State Piano Festival. Wilborn earned a I (one) rating on her piano solo. She earned a I (one) rating both at the District and State Piano Festival.

Matraca Ochs, Kaleb Larson, Shannon Lacey, Austin Stout, Jacob Durrett, Ethan Woodcock, Brian Schauf, Matt Manka, Logan Riedel, Ashley Durr, and Daniel Klima were selected to peform in the League Mass Honor Band at Larned. This honor band consisted of students nominated by their director from the schools of TMP, Larned, Ellinwood, and Hoisington. On Monday, Feb.20, all the nominated students went to the Larned Community Center for a five hour rehearsal and a concert that evening. There was an approximate total of 70 students that participated in this event. Guest clinician for the day was Dr. Lane Weaver, assistant director of bands at Fort Hays State University.
