OISINGTON — USD 431 will host its second annual benefit golf tournament from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 3 and 4 at the Lake Barton Golf Club.
It is a 4-person scramble.
This is a come and go tournament, and no preregistration is required. The cost is $20 per golfer and does not include green fees. There are two divisions, alumni and open.
USD 431 Superintendent Bill Lowry expects the event to grow each year. He expects 80 to 100 people to participate.
"The Class of ‘61 will defend their title. It will be a casual, fun golf tournament," he said.
For anyone who achieves a hole in one on one hole 5, the prize is a 2010 HHR Supersport Wagon vehicle. In addition, there will be a raffle for a golf bag, and prizes such as hats and golf balls.
Fifty percent of the proceeds go to scholarships. Last year, 15 scholarships were awarded to those students with a 3.5 grade point average who were continuing on to college.
