Driver arrested after pursuit

ELLINWOOD — An Ellinwood Police Department pursuit ended with a suspect arrested for driving under the influence and other charges, the Barton County Sheriff’s Office reports.
An Ellinwood officer reported a vehicular pursuit starting at Second and Main in Ellinwood around 6:36 p.m. Thursday. Barton County officers and Kansas Highway Patrol officers joined the pursuit. The suspect reportedly turned off his head lights and headed toward Great Bend, reaching speeds up to 100 mph and having some close calls with other motorists. He was stopped with no collisions or injures reported after about 10 minutes, and a wrecker was called to impound the car, a 1995 Buick LeSabre.
The suspect, Zachary P. Pesicka from Otis, was booked into the Barton County Jail on charges of felony flee and elude, reckless driving, driving under the influence, driving while suspended, no headlights, no taillights, fail to maintain lane, speeding, following too close and open container. Bond was set at $5,000.
