NESS COUNTY — One driver died and the other sustained possible injury on Friday morning, when a tanker truck rear-ended a semitrailer that had slowed to turn off K-96, 10 miles west of Ness City.
Kansas Highway Patrol reports that at 10:33 a.m., the Peterbilt semi driver, Anthony Dale Durbin, 58 of Ransom, was slowing to turn north on G road, and was struck by a the Sterling tanker truck driven by Frank Slade Zamarripa Jr., 45, of Ellinwood. The semi then rolled, coming to rest on the passenger side.
Zamarripa was pronounced dead at the scene. Durbin was taken to the Ness County Hospital with possible injuries.
