Seventeen years of county service and good will were honored by the Barton County Commission this week when it named Bob Folk as the Employee of the Quarter.
Folk, who works in the Noxious Weed Department — much of the year — is also seen frequently helping elsewhere as he takes on duties as wide as helping with sand sealing operations for the Road and Bridge Department during the hot weather, to clearing snow from around the courthouse during the winter.
And he does it with a good attitude, the commissioners were told by Employee Relations Committee representative Stan Behrends. “He is a joy to work with and always has a smile.”
Commissioner Homer Kruckenberg commented that he was already aware of Folk’s accomplishments because of the experiences he’s had with his work for the weed control. Folk consistently goes beyond what is required for farmers, Kruckenberg said.
Commissioner Kenny Schremmer, who has also experienced Folk’s help with agricultural projects, agreed that his thoroughness is appreciated by the county agriculture community.
