The Kansas Lottery is restructuring its field staff in order to provide better service to lottery players and retailers, and increase sales and transfers to the state.  As part of the restructuring, the Lottery will close its Great Bend office.  The last day the office is open to the public will be December 13, 2013.
“Closing the Great Bend office will allow us to better use our resources,” said Kansas Lottery Interim Director Sherriene Jones-Sontag. “Nearly all prize claims are currently made at the Topeka office, so it makes financial sense to close the Great Bend office and find new ways to better serve our customers.”
Players will still be able to claim prizes at Lottery headquarters in Topeka either by mail or in person or, if their prize is $599 or less, at most of the Lottery’s approximately 1,800 retail locations.
As part of its restructuring, the Lottery is redefining positions within the Sales Division.  For example, Social Gaming District Managers will now have responsibility for working specifically with social setting retailers such as bars, restaurants and fraternal organizations to increase sales, recruit new retailers and educate players about games with which they may be unfamiliar, such as Keno and Kansas Hold’Em.
