Hoisington police officer and former Barton County Undersheriff Larry Holliday Jr. was arrested following an injury accident early Saturday in northern Barton County.
Holliday, 49,  was booked into the Barton County Jail on charges of aggravated battery and failure to maintain laned roadway. He was released after posting a $20,000 surety bond.
He was appointed undersheriff by Sheriff Gregg Armstrong, and left the BCSO when Brian Bellinder was sworn in as sheriff in January 2013.
The accident was investigated by the Kansas Highway Patrol, which reported Holliday was driving a 2001 Ford Sport Utility Vehicle that went off Cleveland Road near NE 230 Road, 0.1 miles from the Russell County line and 12 miles north of Claflin, at 12:42 a.m. Saturday. The vehicle then rolled.
The BCSO call log shows the driver missed the curve on a sand road.
Holliday was not injured, but passenger Adam P. Kephart, 33, of Hoisington was suffering from neck pain and was taken to Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. Both men were wearing seat belts.

On Monday, Hoisington Police Chief Kenton Doze declined to comment, except to say that Holliday is still employed. He noted the Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating, and it is an internal personnel matter for the Hoisington Police Department.
