Eagle Med began airlifting injured people from Great Bend Regional Hospital to Wichita following a two-vehicle accident south of Great Bend on U.S. 281.
Barton County sheriff’s deputies report three people sustained critical injuries from the head-on collision about 10:30 a.m. Thursday two miles south of Great Bend near Great Bend Farm Equipment.
The northbound black Chevrolet Tahoe had license tags from Pratt County and the southbound Ford Explorer XLT had license tags from Stafford County.
Emergency personnel transported three patients with serious injuries to Great Bend Regional Hospital. Emergency crews had to extricate at least one patient from a vehicle.
Following the accident, emergency personnel began requesting air transportation to a Wichita hospital. The Eagle Med helicopters landed at Great Bend Regional Airport.
Great Bend sheriff’s deputies and EMS and fire department personnel responded to the accident.
