Great Bend High School’s Madrigal Pops group gave its final public performance of 2012 on Wednesday, singing at the noon Kiwanis meeting.
The final song, as always, was “Reach Out and Touch.” “This is what we wish for your Christmas,” vocal music instructor Susan Stambaugh told the audience. The signed and sung version of “Reach Out and Touch” was chosen as the group’s signature song by Jenny Allford. Stambaugh became the vocal music director after Allford’s retirement, 18 years ago, and continues to close programs with it.
The public can watch a taped version of the GBHS Vespers concert, featuring the Madrigal Pops and the A Capella Choir, at noon on Christmas day, on KSN channel 3.
Music students are still raising money for a trip to Washington, D.C., in the spring. The public can help by “renting” the services of one or more students, for a donation. In the past, students have helped with raking leaves, snow removal, washing windows, helping with inventory and estate sales, stripping wallpaper and shampooing carpets. To rent a student, call Stambaugh, 620-792-5374.
