An injured Rush Center man was taken to Gove County Medical Center after swerving to miss a deer on Interstate 70. Kansas Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred at 12:58 a.m. Wednesday in Gove County.
Ty Virgil Renz, 22, was in a westbound 2005 Peterbuilt APL when he swerved to miss the deer and went off the road. As he attempted to correct his steering the truck came back onto the roadway and hit a guardrail, which caused the trailer to swerve to the left and then the trailer laid over onto the passenger side. It came to rest partially in the median blocking both lanes of traffic. The truck was upright on the guardrail facing the north.

Renz was wearing a seat belt.
The rig was removed by Jack’s Towing to the tow lot.
