United Way of Central Kansas campaign co-chairs include:
Jim and Laura Smith
Jim and Laura arrived in Central Kansas over 20 years ago, seeking a life that would compliment their active lifestyle and growing family.
Jim is an activity therapist at Larned State Hospital and Laura is the executive director of Country Living and Country Living Memory of Larned.
They bring to the Pawnee County Community their passion to improve quality of life for those living in the area. It is their desire to better serve their community by partnering with the United Way of Central Kansas and together building a better community with a common goal.
Jim and Laura have recently relocated to a new home in Larned. They share their lives with two daughters, currently attending college, three adult married sons and four grandchildren.

Dr. Perry and Krista Smith
Dr. Perry and Krista Smith are honored and excited to co-chair the 2015 United Way of Central Kansas Drive.
Perry was raised in Inman and attended Hutchinson Community College, Kansas State University followed by Medical School. He did his residency in Family Practice Medicine in Wichita and always knew that he wanted to serve rural Kansans.
Krista was raised in Syracuse and graduated from Kansas University with a degree in physical therapy.
When looking at a location to establish a practice, Great Bend and central Kansas was very appealing to them because of the size of the community, a sense of belonging that was offered, and a great work ethic. Perry and Krista have been in the area for 34 years and have raised their children and are now able to participate and watch their grandchildren grow up here.
They have been active in Trinity Lutheran Church, the Barton Community College Foundation, the Golden Belt Community Foundation, and the Center for Counseling as board members. They have been very involved in community fund raisers for many organizations that United Way of Central Kansas supports and believes in helping communities and keeping the money local.

Dr. Charlie and Denise Joslin
Charlie Joslin was born in Parsons. He attended Medical School at KU Med School in Kansas City and his Family Medicine Residency was in Wichita. Dr. Joslin was in private practice for 13 years at Hillside Medical Office in Wichita before moving to Russell and then to Ellinwood in late 2009. He currently works at Ellinwood District Hospital and Clinic. He enjoys gardening and spending time with his family when he is not at work.
Denise was born in Great Bend and grew up in the Great Bend area. She graduated from Wichita State University with a degree in science/nursing. She is currently the clinic manager for Ellinwood Rural Health Clinic. She enjoys quilting and just ran in her first 5K.
Together, they have a son, Peter, who attends St. Joseph Catholic School in Ellinwood.
