ELLSWORTH COUNTY — A vehicular pursuit Thursday evening that ended with a suspect being shot in Ellsworth County is being investigated by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
KBI Senior Special Agent/Public Information Office Mark Malick reports that Ellsworth County Sheriff Traci Ploutz contacted the Bureau at approximately 6:45 p.m. Thursday to request assistance in the investigation of an officer involved shooting in Ellsworth County.
“It appeared that multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in a vehicular chase with a possibly armed subject,” Malick stated in a news release. “During the event, three officers from two jurisdictions discharged their firearms. The subject was transported from the scene via EMS, and later flown to a hospital in Wichita.”
Malick said no law enforcement officers were injured during the event. The same of the subject was not released. That individual was reportedly in stable condition Friday morning.
“The investigation into this event is ongoing, so no further information will be released,” Malick stated. “Upon the conclusion of the investigation, the case file will be presented to Ellsworth County Attorney Joe Schepack for his review and consideration.”
