On Oct. 5, around 2:47 p.m., Barton County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 700 block of Northeast 20 Ave., to a reported motor vehicle accident. Officers were advised that a vehicle had rolled and was on fire.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the single vehicle accident. One victim was located at scene. The driver, identified as Michele N. Jeanson, age 25, of Cimarron, was located outside of the vehicle.
The vehicle was totally destroyed by fire.
Investigation indicates the driver was northbound in the 700 block of Northeast 20 Avenue when she lost control crossing left of center and left the roadway. The 1973 Dodge Ram pickup, green in color, entered the west ditch and rolled three quarters, and caught on fire. It appears the driver was ejected from the vehicle.
The driver was transported to Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington and shortly thereafter flown by aircraft to Wichita. Her current condition is not known.
The accident is still under investigation by the Barton County Sheriff’s Office.
The BCSO was assisted at the scene by the Hoisington Fire Department, Hoisington EMS and the Kansas Highway Patrol.
