The Sons of the American Legion presented the colors at the Great Bend City Band’s D-Day program last Thursday, June 6. Band director Steven Lueth said the City Band usually has one concert devoted to patriotic music, and that is the concert scheduled for the Fourth of July. But the band was happy to present a program dedicated to the June 6, 1944, Normandy landing operations that laid the foundations of the Allied victory on the Western Front in World War II. 

Free City Band Concerts are held at 8:15 p.m. on Thursdays and will continue through July 11. A final season concert will be held on Tuesday, July 16.
