LARNED — Patty Smith welcomed members of the Beta Sigma Phi chapter to her rural home Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m.

Sherry Webster presented the informative program on Martha Washington followed by refreshments.

Happy Birthday was sung to Janet Skelton and Connie Carlton and celebrated with ice cream and cake.

During the business meeting, President Connie Carlton called for standing committee reports — Membership, document for Order of Rose; Courtesy, gift card to Merlene Baird and rose to Alice Clapsaddle; Service, donation to the Pawnee Valley Community Hospital Angel Tree; Program, distribution of personal sheets for yearbooks; Social, coffee at Glenna Melkus home Dec. 14; Beta Book Drill, Beta Sigma Phi International contests review.

Discussion was held concerning the Torch publication and the procedure for selecting the yearly Valentine Queen.

The next regular meeting will be a Christmas Party and exchange of secret sister gifts at 2 p.m Monday, Dec. 14 at the home of Alice Clapsaddle.
