They are a hard-working group, the women who belong to the Larned Garden Club and thereby serve the community. "If a project is going on, this group is there," said Merlene Baird, club president, at the Sept. 2 Chamber of Commerce Coffee Hour. The club hosted the event, at the Schnack Park Rose Garden, one of its ongoing projects, year to year.

Baird said a new roof has been placed on the gazebo at the Rose Garden. The club "tries to keep things in shape," she added.

The downtown planters serve to add color and beauty fo that area, and the club’s Garden Walk is held every two years. The home walk is also held every two years, in the intervening years, around Christmas time.

Club members are all women, but "we use all of you guys," a member said. There is "equal opportunity" to help out.
