Larned High School’s volleyball squad and football team got some game experience when they took the floor and the field in their annual intrasquad scrimmages last Friday night. The night’s activities didn’t end at the final whistle, however. Fifth Quarter activities, sponsored by the LHS Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Larned Boosters, a local church group and the LHS athletic department, provided free food and entertainment to a large group of students.

The Larned Boosters served free hot dogs and drinks, and Blake Guthrie, a talented singer and performer, provided an informal concert for an exuberant crowd of students on the LHS football field. Guthrie, now residing in Wichita, is originally from Great Bend. Future Fifth Quarter activities are being planned once the Indians begin their home football season on Sept. 17 when the Indians host the Thomas More Prep-Marian Monarchs.
