Kiwanis granted usage of Camp Pawnee Lodge

LARNED —  The Pawnee County Commission met at 9 a.m. Aug. 18 for a regular meeting at the Pawnee County Courthouse. The following are approved minutes submitted by Pawnee County clerk Ruth Searight.
Pawnee County commissioners Kathy Bowman, chair, and John C. Haas, were presnt. Donna Pelton was absent.
• Searight gave commissioners the following for their review/approval — Larned City Manager, Lane Massey letter regarding the annexation of Morris Street; Resolution regarding booking fees; payables; 2015 revised draft 2015 budget; Blue Cross/Blue Shield renewal and usage; agenda for Aug. 18; and draft minutes for Aug. 11.
• Commissioners sorted through the mail.
9:10 a.m. — Mark Wagner, emergency management/zoning.  Discussed a storm spotter and possible wage. Wagner discussed narrow band radios.
Wagner gave updates on KDAD. He informed them the new EMPG grant is to give an increase next year for salary reimbursement.
• Commissioners approved and signed checks for payables.
•  Commissioners read and approved minutes of Aug. 11, 2014.
9:50 a.m. — Kurt Demel, Pawnee County highway administrator, gave updates on signs, Shiley culvert accident, work plan and goals, and employee resignation.
• Commissioners approved and signed a road crossing permit. Demel discussed maintaining schedule and overlaying and sealing.
Demel discussed harvest traffic, Camp Pawnee work updates, and noxious weed schedule and work.
Demel discussed bridges and 18 plans of action that the engineer will give recommendations. He discussed possible equipment needing to be replaced.
• Commissioners worked on the 2015 budget.
10:50 a.m. — Adam Hewson, Kiwanis Club, requested, and commissioners approved Kiwanis using Camp Pawnee Lodge for two hours on Sept. 25, at no charge.
Hewson requested, and commissioners approved Kiwanis using Camp Pawnee Lodge, all day on Oct. 17, and all day on Oct. 18, for half price.
• Commissioners worked on the 2015 budget.
1 p.m. –  Commissioners worked on 2015 budget.
1:35 p.m. — John Settle, Pawnee County attorney, requested an executive session for attorney/client privilege.
1:45 p.m. — Commissioners discussed and worked on the Pawnee County attorney’s budget for 2015.
2:10 p.m. — Mary Beth Herrmann, Pawnee County health department administrator, gave updates on personnel.
She gave updates on the M & E last Saturday, and how successful it was. She informed the commissioners that the department might need a newer and larger vehicle next year.
4:30 p.m. – The meeting was adjourned. The next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 25 at 9 a.m.
