LARNED 55, HALSTEAD 33

HALSTEAD – Evan Skelton scored 13 points to spark Larned’s boys past Halstead 55-33 in a Central Kansas League basketball game.

Larned (10-5, 3-3 CKL) also got nine points apiece from Tyler Stelter and Trevor Meyer. The Indians held the Dragons (5-10, 3-3 CKL) in check defensively with a zone defense.

“What sparked us the second quarter was they struggled to score,” said Larned coach Don Zimmerman. “We’ve been working hard on the rebounding end.”

Larned travels to co-leader Pratt Tuesday.

HALSTEAD GIRLS 42, LARNED 34

HALSTEAD – Halstead’s girls outscored Larned 16-9 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 42-34 Central Kansas League basketball victory.

Halstead (5-10, 2-4 CKL) was led by McKenzie Anderson with 15 points. Kathy Williams added eight points. Halstead hit 3-pointers to end the second and third quarters.

Ally Aldrich paced Larned (2-13, 0-6 CKL) with 14 points and Haley Skelton added eight points. The Indians were tied 14-14 at halftime.
