LARNED — Larned High School’s Chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes wanted to find a program that is often overlooked during the holiday seasons last year. Sarah Liston, this year’s FCA president, suggested that the organization sponsor a drive to collect baby items called “Bundles for Babies,” for those in need right here at home in Pawnee County.
LHS students and staff members, as well as the community, responded with enthusiasm and with generous donations. Bundes for Babies was so successful, the FCA students decided to run the same drive again in 2011.
The students set up a playpen at LHS and at the Gene Keady Basketball Tournament, and the response again was amazing.  All items go directly to those families with babies to children of three years of age who are in need of help who live in Pawnee County.
FCA students presented Holly Corman, who represented the Pawnee County Health Department and the Parents as Teachers organization, with the items they collected Friday morning.
In response to the gifts, Ms. Corman told the students, “We wish to sincerely thank you on behalf of the babies and mothers of Pawnee County.  We are able to provide wonderful services with your donations.  Thanks to all of you who contributed to this most worthy cause.”
