Larned High band earns 'I' ratings

LARNED — The Larned “Band of Indians” earned I ratings and featured an excellent drum line rating and a superior color guard rating at the High Plains Marching Festival recently at Fort Hays State University.  This is the fourth year in a row that the “Band of Indians” earned a I rating at the Hays Marching Festival. 
The band performed their 2011 marching show “Magical Mystery Tour,” — the Music of the Beatles. The show featured the following songs — “Magical Mystery Tour,” “Hard Days Night,” “Eleanor Rigby,” and “Hey Jude.” 
Derik Trimmer, Michael Wysong and Kevin VonFeldt performed solos during their performance Oct. 24. The band received a I rating in Music performance, a I rating in marching and maneuvering and a I rating in General Effect for an overall rating of a I. The drum line received a rating of excellent and the color guard received a superior rating.
Marc Webster, Larned High School director, said is very proud of the work done by band students during the marching season.
Webster said he appreciated the assistance of Gene Williams, assistant director; Bethany Skelton, color guard instructor, and Art Wagner, volunteer marching instructor, for their valuable help.
