LARNED — The 2012 Salvation Army Fund Drive in Pawnee County begins Monday when red buckets begin appearing in area businesses. The drive is sponsored by the Ministerial Association of Pawnee County.
On Nov. 26, bell ringers will staff the kettle at Larned’s Dillon store, 423 Main Street. Bell ringers will work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.; and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday through Dec. 22.  In addition, the Salvation Army will place inserts in an edition of The Tiller and Toiler.
During the 2011 Christmas holiday season, the fund drive raised $5,674. This past year, the Salvation Army served 347 Pawnee County residents.
The Salvation Army work compliments the Ministerial Association’s Helping Hands ministry and the Larned Food Pantry. Salvation Army funds cover expenses for utilities, clothing, shoes, furniture and household goods, car repairs, medical prescriptions, eye exams and glasses, dental work, student aids and learning supplies.
