Larneds Gordon earns runner-up finish

LARNED — Three-time state qualifier Delainee Gordon (21:56.8) placed runner-up in the junior-senior girls division of the Abby Trapp-Prescott cross country meet.  
Samantha Trejo of Lyons High School (21:46.8) placed first over the 5-kilometer race. Hoisington’s Rylie Koester finished fifth (22:21.7). Macksville’s Emma Stimatze placed eighth (23:36.0).
Larned’s Danyom Green finished third (18;45.4) behind winner Frank Cuevas of Kiowa County (17:29.7) in the boys junior-senior division. Macksville’s Hector Negrete placed fifth (19:04.8) and St. John’s Triston Long placed seventh (19:17.2).
Kiowa County’s Casey Erickson won the girls ninth-grade-sophomore diision (22:06.0). Top 10 finishers were Hoisington’s Jessi Kindscher, fifth (23:22.4); Larned’s Brooke Butler, seventh (23:30.8) and St. John’s Shayla Garcia, ninth (25:06.6).
Lakin’s Talan Jamison won the ninth-grade-sophomore boys division (18:09.6). Other top 10 finishers were Otis-Bison’s Thomas Harmon (18:58.1); and St. John teammates Quincy Smith, sixth (19:26.0); Casey McVey, eighth (19:51.8) and Luke Mercer, 10th (20:09.3).
