LHS places fourth at tennis invitational

The No. 1 doubles tandem of senior Alexis Langdon and junior Amanda Lessard led Larned High with a runner-up finish in the Larned Tennis Tournament. Langdon and Lessard finished with a 3-1 record at No. 1 doubles, beating teams from Hoisington, Cimarron and Lyons.
Ellinwood’s Rachel Doll and Danae Patten placed first with an 8-2 victory over Langdon and Lessard.
Hoisington scored 32 points to finish first. Ellinwood placed second with 26 points and Larned placed fourth with 18 points.
Because the Larned tennis courts are under repair, Larned played its tournament at Veterans Park in Great Bend.
Larned freshman Ali Leiker placed third with a 2-2 record at No. 2 singles.  Emily Herrman at No. 1 and the No. 2 doubles tandem of Grace Marshall and Savanna Converse placed fourth with 1-3 records.
Hoisington’s Besa Bwalya finished 4-0 at No. 1 singles and Jessica Schauf finished 4-0 at No. 2 singles to finish first. Ellinwoo’s No. 2 doubles team of Mikayla Monday and Katie Shafer placed first with a 4-0 record.
